From the COVID-19 pandemic to conflicts and climate emergencies, Forus is working with members and allies to build resilient communities and respond to emergencies. In 2019 Forus started a project to strengthen the capacities of national NGO platforms in crisis and post-emergency situations with the support of the Fondation de France. The objective of this project was to research and strengthen the role of CSO umbrella organizations in coordinating disaster risk reduction and post-emergency interventions. A toolkit and microsite are now available in English, French and Spanish with case studies from various Forus members dealing with disasters - from earthquakes in Nepal to conflicts in Mali and the peace process in Colombia.
For the Toolkit and DRR microsite, Forus collaborated with the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) and Save the Children Switzerland. Research and development was conducted by www.inventing-futures.org.
