Pablo Zegarra, the consultant who created the NGO Alliance's strategic plan, enumerated some recommendations that organisations should take into account when renewing an organisational Strategic Plan.
For example, he mentions raising awareness of new challenges, responding to the new demands of partners (shareholders), challenges in the work environment, and guarding the competitive advantage.
Furthermore, he suggests the re-alignment of Projects, Resources and Internal Structure; Strengthening the strategic vision; Visualising an adjustment to the Business Model and Value Proposition.
Zegarra considers the following to be among the greatest challenges in the elaboration of a strategic plan:
At the internal level: Good quality of information and access to it; and organizational culture oriented to internal and external clients.
He also considers the alignment of Structure, Strategy, Processes, Technology, and Organisational Culture, as well as the participation at all levels of the Organisation, in the Strategic Planning process.
One of the recommendations is to integrate individual interests into the collective and organisational interests to break down the barriers and resistance that prevent involvement.
